Tunisia: National drug production covers 75% of needs

Speaking to Express FM, president of the national chamber of drug manufacturers, Tarek Hammami stated that the pharmaceutical industry in Tunisia profited from high-level skills, which strengthens Tunisian confidence in locally fabricated drugs.

He added that national production covered 75% of the needs of the Tunisian population by assuring that it was possible to improve this figure.

He pointed out that there are 41 drug manufacturers in addition to manufacturers of veterinary and others. He likewise said that investment in the drug sector reached 1.4 billion dinars by the end of 2021.

The president of the National Chamber of Medicines Manufacturers also confirmed that the rate of the constitution of new companies was up from 30 companies in 2015 to 41 in 2021.
