Tunisia: National Institute of Meteorology announces high temperatures for the week

According to the latest bulletin from the National Institute of Meteorology of Tunisia, a heat wave is expected across the country from April 9 to 12, 2024. The forecast temperatures will surpass seasonal averages, with a significant climb from the beginning of the week.

Monday, April 9, 2024: The country will be under the influence of a southerly wind which will lose intensity throughout the day. Cloudy spells are predicted but will not stop temperatures from reaching maximums of 20 to 25 degrees in high places and 26 to 32 degrees in other regions.

Tuesday, April 10, 2024: The southerly wind persists, with a slight decrease in temperatures. High-altitude regions will see the mercury hovering between 16 and 20 degrees, while in the rest of the country, it will be between 24 and 29 degrees.

Wednesday, April 11, 2024: Temperatures are beginning to drop with maximums forecast between 12 and 16 degrees in the upper regions and 20 to 24 degrees in other regions.

Thursday, April 12, 2024: Tunisia will encounter partly cloudy weather, with a rise in temperatures. Highs will be between 15 and 19 degrees and other areas will be between 22 and 27 degrees.

The Institute alerts of this sudden rise in temperatures which could impact the daily life and health of citizens, particularly the most vulnerable. It is advisable to follow the precautionary recommendations during this period.
