The National Observatory of Energy and Mines under the Ministry of Industry said that the national production of crude oil dropped by 16% late in February 2023 compared to the same month in 2022, standing at 242 kilotons (kt), reads the energy report of February 2023.
This decline hit major oil fields in the country, namely Halk el Manzel which entered production in 2021 (-56%), Ashtart (-26%), El Borma (-14%), Adam (-19%), M.L.D. (-31%), Cherouq (-31%) and El Hajeb / Guebiba (-16%).
Nevertheless, other oil fields recorded an improvement in production, namely Gherib (+36%), Hasdrubal (+8%) and Cercina (+6%).
The daily average of oil production fell from 37.8 thousand barrels/d late in February 2022, to 33.2 thousand barrels/d late in February 2023.
