Tunisia-ncrease in physician fees

Doctors’ fees will increase,the increase that will be executed sequentially, in two stages but which is nonetheless significant.

This raise will take place in two stages, during the year 2021. The first will take place in January, the second in September 2021, according to the treaty signed on November 3, 2020 between the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) and the Tunisian Union of Liberal Doctors (STML).

This contract stipulates, according to a statement from STML, published last night, the rise in fees and medical acts for a general practitioner from 18 dinars to 24 dinars in January 2021 and to 30 dinars in September 2021.

For the medical specialist, it will go from 30 dinars to 37.5 dinars in January 2021 and to 45 dinars in September 2021, an increase of 60% after having remained unchanged since 2008, according to the STML.

The increase will also concern operative surgery acts, speciality acts performed by a doctor and certain radiological procedures classified E and Z. It will be done in two phases: + 25% from next January and + 25% from September 2021.

The agreement also provides for the expansion of the list of surgical procedures covered by the CNAM to include surgery for breast cancer, rectal surgery, surgery for prostate tumors (benign and malignant), breast surgery. lung cancer and knee joint surgery.

According to the signed agreement, certain prostatic drugs (drugs against benign tumors) will not be deducted from the ceiling, and consultations and medical procedures carried out in the context of emergency medicine will also be calculated outside the ceiling.

Moderate arterial hypertension will also be classified as APCI (Condition fully covered by the CNAM).

In addition, it was decided to raise the ceiling after consultation with the social partners.
