Tunisia-Nearly 70 people arrested after their attempt to migrate illegally

Tunisian security forces proceed to ‘arrest candidates for emigration. Over the weekend, they succeeded to capture 65 people who were about to travel illegally from the ports of Rades and La Goulette, the Interior Ministry affirmed in a statement.

The individuals were apprehended as they tried to infiltrate ships docked at ports. They were taken into custody and the prosecution ordered legal proceedings against the.

In addition, a unit of the national navy yesterday rescued four Tunisians who were on board an inflatable boat which had taken on water and which was spotted 50 km from the coast of Haouaria (governorate of Nabeul).

Passengers between the ages of 21 and 27 said they sailed from the Gulf of Tunis on Saturday in an attempt to reach Europe illegally, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense. They were taken back to the port of Kelibia and handed over to the National Guard units.
