Tunisia-Nissaf Ben Alaya: 18% of COVID-19 fatality , aged over 75

Addressing the press,Director of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases and official spokeswoman of the health ministry  Nissaf Ben Alaya announced this Wednesday, October 14 that  “18% of people who died from the coronavirus in Tunisia were over 75 years old and 6% were between 65 and 75 years old.”

Ben Alaya bet on the significance of wearing the mask and adopting barrier gestures to avoid contamination, signalling that a mobile laboratory has been installed for more than a week in Sidi Bouzid to strengthen the capacity of laboratories in the region of the Center.

Ben Alaya that as of October 13 the death toll in Tunisia has risen to 537 with 25 supplementary deaths between October 12 and 13.

As of October 11 and 12, 2,234 new ones were recorded in Tunisia after 6,455 screening tests carried out. 34 causes of death were also recorded during these two days.

750 people are currently admitted to hospitals, including 149 in intensive care and 73 under artificial respiration.
