Tunisia-Noufal Amira: “We continue to carry red badge and demand release of our colleagues imprisoned in professional cases [Video]

Noufal Amira, the head of the Tunisian Union of Private Pharmacy Owners, told Tunisie Numérique today, Thursday, that health sector professionals will continue to wear the red badge throughout this week. This action comes in reaction to the death of a physician who was detained.

Amira stressed that handling professional, medical, or pharmaceutical issues through security or judicial measures presents challenges due to the technical specificity of these areas, which necessitate specialized knowledge and expertise. He pointed out that in the case leading to the death of a colleague in Bizerte, the Pharmaceutical Inspection Department or the Medical Inspection Department, both of which include the requisite expertise, were not consulted.

Similarly, Amira confirmed that talks among the professional bodies of the health sector are underway to plan future protest actions. These protests seek to call for the release of doctors and health sector professionals who have been arrested over issues related to their professional duties.
