UGTT Secretary-General Noureddine Taboubi stated today, on the occasion of the start of the work of the national administrative body, that the nation is going through a tough period. Taboubi disclosed that the state is incapable to keep its commitments with the UGTT and revive development in the regions, stating that the meeting of the administrative body is taking place under special conditions.
He added that the UGTT is under pressure in relation to the document that will be released to the IMF and proposed reform measures such as lowering the wage bill and lifting fuel subsidies. He returned, in the same vein, to the 2022 finance law which, according to him, will have bad repercussions on the purchasing power of Tunisians.
“The UGTT is ready for all scenarios. We will safeguard the Tunisians and deal with all governments with a critical eye, ”he said. Taboubi furthermore criticized Circular No. 20 issued by Head of Government Nejla Bouden, emphasising that it will be the source of several social tensions.
