Tunisia – Opening of judicial investigation following drowning of two students in Montplaisir canal

The general prosecutor’s office at the Court of First Instance of Tunis authorized the opening of the necessary inquiries to find the circumstances of the death of two students who drowned in the canal in the Montplaisir region, emptying into Lake Tunis, in the capital.

Preliminary data reveals that after the end of the tests, on the second day of the “blocked” exam week, three students in one of the middle schools in Al Khadhra city headed towards the Montplaisir canal to swim in due to the heat, but two of them drowned in the waters of the canal. Civil protection agents therefore intervened to recover their bodies and hand them over to the competent security authorities.
