The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed welcomed, today, Sunday, February 27, 2022, prime minister Nejla Bouden and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Othman Jerandi to review the situation of Tunisian nationals in Ukraine.

At the ending of this meeting, Minister Othman Jerandi reaffirmed the special concern accorded by the Head of State to Tunisian citizens stranded in Ukraine, while specifying that the head of the state had issued his instructions so that everything is done to repatriate nationals, more particularly students, through Romania and Poland.

The Minister added that attachment points have been placed in Ukraine so that Tunisians can make communication at any time utilising the contact details that have been transmitted to them: telephone numbers, addresses as well as a toll-free number that can be reached from countries bordering Ukraine and even from Tunisia where families are worried regarding their children and loved ones.

Othman Jerandi likewise reveals that some citizens have managed to reach Moldova from where they can reach Romania, Poland and even Hungary before reporting that a coordination cell is in place bringing together representatives of embassies, the national airline and the Ministry of Transport. In conclusion, he wanted to comfort the Tunisians by affirming that the Head of State personally supervises the smooth running of this repatriation operation.
