Tunisian foreign minister Othman Jerandi has stepped up diplomatic efforts amid the serious escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip, the foreign ministry announced in a statement.
Mr Jerandi made calls with his Palestinian, Algerian, Egyptian, Kuwaiti, Turkish, Indonesian counterparts in addition to the White House Middle East Policy Advisor and Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa in the United States National Security Council, Brett McGurk.
The Tunisian minister underscored, in this sense, the necessity to align positions and consolidate efforts to put a close to the attacks of the Israeli occupation forces on the Palestinian enclave.
At the initiative of Tunisia, a third session of the United Nations Security Council is due to be held on Sunday to examine the Israeli aggressions in the Palestinian territories.
