Tunisia-Parliament approves exceptional measures

Meeting in plenary on Tuesday, the House of People’s Representatives approved the decision on the application of exceptional measures for the continuity of parliamentary action with 148 votes in favour, one abstention and one objection. A compromise was reached between the heads of parliamentary groups and representatives of “non-group” deputies on the last version of the decision. Among the amendments made, the meeting of the crisis unit if needed, the adjournment of the examination of the parliamentary rules of the procedure after the end of the period of exceptional measures and the possibility of the presence of deputies during the plenary session which will be devoted to the vote of confidence for the cabinet reshuffle.
The decision provides for the adoption of measures necessary to guarantee the continuity of work in parliament for one month, renewable twice by a decision of the bureau.
