Tunisia-Parliament office declares maximum sanctions against Smara and Makhlouf

The Parliament office decided, at the conclusion of an exceptional meeting held this Monday, July 5, 2021, to sanction MPs Sahbi Smara and Seif Eddine Makhlouf, following attacks they perpetrated against PDL leader Abir Moussi. The office expressed its “absolute rejection of any recourse to violence”, emphasising that the behaviour of the two deputies is “individual, unacceptable and irresponsible” and that it goes “against the legislation passed. and enacted by Parliament which criminalizes all sorts of violence, particularly against women ”.

It subsequently said that the deputies Smara and Makhlouf will be delivered the maximum sanction that the internal regulations provide in such situations, without stipulating what it is.
