“90% of financial aid intended for students from poor families or with limited income for the 2020-2021 school year has been paid,” said Sami Belghith, director of social promotion at the Ministry of Social Affairs on Thursday.
In a statement to the TAP, the official said financial aid for students from these families, whose salaries do not exceed twice the guaranteed minimum wage, will be paid from mid-October.
Belghith said that since September 22 until today, Thursday, an amount of 50 dinars has been paid to 87,000 primary and secondary school students.
“15,000 other students will benefit from this aid from next week,” he added.
In addition, financial assistance of 120 dinars will be awarded to each student from a poor family or with limited income, starting mid-October.
The official recalled that the ministry has also decided to provide children from poor families with limited income with free transport subscriptions for the 2020-2021 school and university year.
