UGTT deputy secretary general, Sami Tahri, revealed during an interview with private radio, that the pressures and abuses carried out by the power against union work are reminiscent of what occurred in 1965, 1978 and 1985.
Tahri clarified that power attempts to harm UGTT in order to pass unpopular reforms imposed by donors which seek to impoverish the people and privatize public enterprises, as well as the lifting of subsidies and stopping recruitment and over-taxation.
Tahri added that the protests organized at the moment are a strong message for the power, to tell it that the workers and the people are with the UGTT and that any attempt to undermine the union is doomed to failure.
