MP Olfa Tarras reported on March 27, 2021, the fury of the residents of the governorate of Sfax over the pollution of the commercial port of the region.
In a published post, Tarras condemned the discharge of sulfur at the commercial port, with “archaic techniques” that do not stop the spread of fine particles in the air, sea or soil, consequently negatively affecting the environment and health.
She additionally called on the authorities to uphold the rights of citizens to a healthy environment and urged to halt the dumping and transport of this substance in urban areas.
She stressed the necessity to invest in the purchase of fit and technological equipment for this purpose, as well as the orientation towards the eco-responsible green industry.
