A Pink train with on board a medical and paramedical team arrived Sunday in Metlaoui and Ksar, governorate of Gafsa, as part of the Pink October campaign to fight against breast cancer.
This caravan equipped with medical equipment was able to provide free breast cancer screening services for nearly 300 women from the delegations of Sened, Ksar and Metlaoui,
Adviser to the Minister of Health Ines Gmati said clinical analysis and mammograms have revealed possible cases of breast cancer in nearly six women, adding that they will be directed to specialized hospitals.
She added that screening tests for certain chronic diseases such as diabetes and blood pressure were conducted among a dozen citizens.
On the other hand, COVID-19 vaccines were administered to 200 people from the delegations of Sened, Ksar and Metlaoui. The health caravan is an initiative of the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the National Company of Tunisian Railways (SNCFT).
The campaign targeting the residents of the governorates of Sfax, Sidi Bouzid and Gafsa last Friday and ends Sunday.
