Prime minister Elyes Fakhfakh said it was untrue to allege that tourists will be favoured compared to Tunisians residing abroad.
He added that Tunisians returning from abroad will be inquired to spend 14 days in voluntary isolation at home. On the other hand, tourists who arrive in Tunisia are exempted from this restriction and limited to a particular circuit, which does not risk promoting the spread of the virus. The circuit Includes guided tours to tourist sites.
Fakhfakh added that despite all the baseless criticism, the state is confident that it has taken the appropriate measures to connect the effectiveness of health measures with the fundamental economic recovery. The PM took the example of the president of the hotel federation who stated that there will be no tourist season due to the mismanagement of the state. He added that people also criticised the government for this and it’s opposite. Some say that it should be opened and others advocate maintaining the restrictions. But, he said, the government knew what it was doing.
