Tunisia-PM Elyes Fakhfakh unveils his government’s priorities

For the first time since independence, a woman has been appointed Minister of Justice, a ministry of sovereignty par excellence, said Prime Minister-designate Elyes Fakhfakh during the plenary session fo the vote of confidence. PM Fakhfakh promised  a project of “deep” reform to put the country back on the rails of economic and social stability.

 

He said it is a pact that brings together Tunisians of all political sensitivities around an “ambitious” project to restore confidence among the population and to nourish hope among youths. The government priority is to resist crime and breaking the law, he pointed out

The PM vowed that the government will be a solid basis for all security forces in  reducing crime rates, he affirmed further that his cabinet second priority will consist of confronting the cost-of-living, countering smuggling  and monopolization.

The government third priority will consist of recovering the economy and preserving small and medium enterprises, in addition to supporting investment and creating job opportunities, he stated.

Fakhfakh also vowed to fight corruption and the independence of the judiciary and the laws that support it, he swore not to show any mercy for manipulation of public funds and public deals.

The PM also talked about reducing indebtedness, a reducing trade deficit and working to improve export as well as phosphate and mining area files. The government last priority according to Fakhfakh involves labours and substitute teaches and finding solutions for their situations.
