Tunisia-PM Hichem Mechichi declares a set of economic support measures for businesses

In a speech addressed on the occasion of Eid El Fitr, prime minister Hichem Mechcihi  Hichem Mechichi assured that the festival this year corresponds with a severe epidemic context that entails painful measures adopted by the government.

In this context, he declared that following the damage generated by the lockdown, a series of measures will be taken to support the affected companies. Hence, the decisions are as follows:

• 5,000 interest-free loans of 5,000 dinars available with easier grant provisions and a grace period, in particular, for small projects affected by lockdown measures
• Direct financial assistance will be granted to affected companies through registration to the Help Enterprise platform
• Delay of payment of social contributions for the second quarter. They will be programmed for the third and fourth quarters
• Postponement of the payment of taxes for small traders and artisans till the end of 2021, without late penalties.

Hichem Mechichi reassured that these measures were exerted despite the economic difficulties, in particular, at the level of public finances. “Currently, the only way out of the crisis is to quicken the pace of vaccination. This is why the state is operating to bring back the required doses of vaccines to guarantee a rapid resumption of economic and commercial activities “.
