Tunisia-PM Hichem Mechichi will participate in the One Planet Summit remotely

France is organizing this Monday, January 11, 2021, in Paris, a third edition of the One Planet Summit, which will concentrate largely on the theme of biodiversity, with the intention of relaunching environmental diplomacy.

About thirty personalities will take part, mainly by videoconference because of the epidemiological situation. Among them is prime minister Hichem Mechichi.

Among the guests is UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, World Bank President David Malpass, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The four themes of the conference will be the protection of terrestrial and marine ecosystems; promotion of agroecology; mobilization of funding; the link between deforestation, preservation of species and human health.

As an indication, the One Planet Summit is an international meeting on climate change, organized by France, the United Nations and the World Bank, bringing together approximately 4,000 participants including around fifty heads of state and government.
