Tunisia-PM Mechichi leaves Beja angry

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Head of the regional office of the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries in Beja Chokri Djebbi affirmed that prime minister Hichem Mechichi left the meeting room due to a conflict with the coordination of national organizations.

Our speaker revealed that at the start of the working session held at the headquarters of the governorate, the Regional Director of Health of Beja gave a detailed evaluation of the epidemiological situation in the region. Following this, the national components opened the debate with the PM.

Mr. Chokri indicated that during his intervention, he revealed to Mechichi the gravity of the epidemiological situation in Beja and reminded him that they had begun a strike to this effect and the broken words regarding the organization of a ministerial council to examine the situation in the region.

He also held him responsible for the deteriorating health situation, because he did not attend to the inhabitants of the region, nor to the components of civil society or even specialists. “He was displeased with this speech and decided to leave the meeting room protesting and declining to hear us… I don’t know but evidently, he expected to be praised for his ‘efforts to save Beja!” he said.
