Tunisia-PM Mechichi warns coronavirus deaths may reach 7,000

Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi announced on Monday that the death tally from the coronavirus pandemic in the country may reach 6,000-7,000, detailing the health situation as “very dangerous”.

In a televised speech, he said that the government has taken a series of measures by increasing the capacity of hospitals and their equipment.

“Regrettably, we see a breach in the application, especially when it comes to wearing masks. However, this is the only way to reduce the number of contaminations. We are at 40% compliance rate for this measure while we must be at 80%, ”lamented the head of government.
