Tunisia-Preparations for the repatriation of waste imported from Italy

The Ministries of Environment and Transport, approved, this Wednesday, in Sousse, to prepare a draft of the deal relating to the repatriation of Italian waste illegally imported in Tunisia since 2020, revealed the Ministry of the Environment.

This draft, which will be delivered to the Italian side, should ensure the rights of the Tunisian State and offer guarantees to the Group of handlers of the Center, confirmed the ministers of the environment and transport Leila Chikhaoui and Rabii Majidi during the meeting dedicated to the logistical preparations for the repatriation of Italian waste.

The focus was placed during this meeting on the impact of this affair on the brand image of the city of Sousse, and on the fluidity of traffic in its port which has been lodging since 2020, 212 containers of illegally imported waste from Italy.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Customs the head of State litigation and the general manager of the centre handlers likewise attended this meeting.
