Tunisia-President Kaïs Saïed discusses public finances and fight against tax evasion with Minister of the Economy

President Kaïs Saïed welcomed this Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Carthage Palace, the Minister of Finance, Sihem Bougdhiri Nemsia, for a meeting concentrated on the country’s current financial challenges. The meeting addressed the crucial issues of financial balance and tax optimization necessary to strengthen public finances.

The meeting highlighted the significance of redoubled efforts to effectively combat tax evasion. The discussion furthermore focused on the management of confiscated property, a sensitive and priority subject for the government.

Kais Saied emphasised the necessity to manage these assets judiciously until lasting solutions can be found to ensure their preservation and protect the economic rights of Tunisian citizens.
