Tunisia-President Kais Saied: Each party must assume its responsibilities , law must apply to all regardless of their positions.

President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed received prime minister  Hichem Mechichi at Carthage presidential palace.

The meeting concentrated on the general situation in the country, in special the tragic occurrence that took place Tuesday in the city of Sbeitla provoking the death of a citizen after the implementation of a decision to demolish an anarchic kiosk and an atmosphere of tension in the region.

The Head of State emphasised that each party must assume its responsibilities and the law must apply to all regardless of their positions.

“The crimes perpetrated by those who stole the people’s money for decades have continued outstanding before courts without any punishment, and worse, those who would have been jailed dare to undermine the state and its symbols,” he said.

The meeting similarly concentrated on the health situation in the country. Importance was placed on the need to prioritise the opinions of genuine experts rather than opening the way in the media to those who want to take advantage of this emergency situation and the misery of the majority of Tunisians.
