Tunisia-President Kais Saied invites Austrian Chancellor to visit Tunisia

On the sidelines of his visit to Brussels, the President of the Republic Kais Saied talked with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer. The meeting concentrated on the relationship between the two nations and the chances of its consolidation in the health, trade and economic sectors.

The Head of State, in this respect, clarified the reasons which were at the root of the implementation of the exceptional measures reviewing the socio-economic difficulties which the country encounters because of the bad management which has was made by former officials, adding the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic and the security situation in the region.

He also conveyed Tunisia’s program for the coming period, repeating its commitment to respect human rights, freedoms, the principles of democracy, justice and the independence of the judiciary. Saied, in the same context, called on the Austrian Chancellor to visit Tunisia. For his part, Karm Nehammer confirmed that his country is following the development of the situation in Tunisia, expressing its readiness to help the country. According to him, Austria is aiming to consolidate its economic relations with Tunisia and overcome the problems that companies from his country may face in setting up their projects in Tunisia. The official also announced that he is awaiting Saied’s visit to Vienna.
