Tunisia-President Kais Saied meets BCT Governor

President Kais Saied welcomed Governor of Tunisia’s Central Bank (BCT) Marouane El Abassi at Carthage presidential palace.
The official meeting formally focused on the country’s economic circumstances and the marked improvement of the figures late in 2019, in striking contrast to 2018.

The meeting further concentrated on the economic and financial circumstances for the forthcoming period, particularly the effective influence expected to emerge from Tunisia’s retreat from the list of jurisdictions subjected to monitoring by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

It additionally discussed the 4th Enhanced Follow-Up Report (FUR) for Tunisia and the process executed in this field, as displayed in the growing engagement of the country that has complied with 36 out of 40 recommendations.

Abassi also informed the president about the direct results of Tunisia’s assistance in the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
