Tunisia-President Kaïs Saïed meets David Maria Sassoli

The president of the republic Kaïs Saïed met this morning, Friday, June 4, 2021, the President of the European Parliament David Maria Sassoli in Brussels.

On the occasion, the head of the state called for the opening of new horizons to consolidate the links of brotherhood between Tunisia and the European Union to achieve economic growth. He further stressed the necessity for a comprehensive treatment of the issue of migration, calling for support to Tunisia in its efforts to bring back vaccines but additionally at the security level and the battle against terrorism.

For his part, David Maria Sassoli revealed the attachment of the European Parliament to support Tunisian democracy and the country’s efforts to confront economic and social hurdles. He further argued that the migration issue could not be dealt with solely from a security perspective.
