Tunisia-President Kais Saied: Some of those placed under house arrest are supposed to be in prison

During a meeting, yesterday at the Carthage presidential Palace with constitutional rights experts Sadok Belaid, Mohamed Salah Benaissa and Amine Mahfoudh, the President of the Republic Kais Saied stressed that some placed under house arrest are supposed to be in jail.
Others under house arrest have been permitted to move within 60 kilometres of their place of residence, he added. He also said that the travel ban applies only to those who are the subject of legal proceedings, reemphasising his commitment to respect fundamental rights and freedoms.
