The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, started his visit to Belgium, this Thursday, February 17, 2022, to participate in the work of the sixth session of the European Union-African Union Summit, with a meeting with Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).
The Head of State welcomed the level of coordination between Tunisia and the OIF in the preparation of the following Francophonie summit, which will be held in Djerba, underlining Tunisia’s determination to bring together all the favourable circumstances to make this event a success, which is likely to enhance the chances and prospects for cooperation and exchange in the French-speaking world.
The President of the Republic correspondingly indicated that Tunisia has finished all the logistical preparations for the organization of the summit, highlighting its readiness to welcome delegations from brotherly and friendly nations. He added that Tunisia shares with the member states of the OIF the values of democracy, freedoms and human rights, and wishes to seek joint action in order to maintain and consolidate these principles.
For her part, Louise Mushikiwabo welcomed Tunisia’s readiness to host the next Francophonie Summit, saluting the permanent efforts that have been made in this regard to secure the holding of this summit in the best conditions. Louise Mushikiwabo also indicated that a delegation of senior officials from the International Organization of La Francophonie will soon visit Tunisia to conclude consultations with the Tunisian authorities on certain aspects, but also to visit the different sites that will host the activities of the summit.
