Tunisia-President Kais Saied: Tunisia is one State and President is symbol of its unity

Tunisia is one State and the President of the Republic is the symbol of its unity, said the president of the republic  Kais Saied.

Welcoming House speaker  Rached Ghannouchi and Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi at the Carthage Palace, he accentuated the significance of approving the finance bill to evade resort to Article 66 of the constitution which specifies in its last paragraph that “If the draft finance law is not adopted by December 31, the law can be implemented in terms of expenditures by renewable presidential order, in three months tranches. Revenues shall continue to be collected in accordance with the laws in force”.

He warned on the gravity and the “sensitive” nature of the situation, asking on all parties to shoulder their full responsibility.

Invoking the initiative of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), the head of the state said he approved all the proposals but he rejected the participation of the “corrupt” in the dialogue to which the workers’ organisation had called.

He underlined the necessity to respond to the legitimate demands of Tunisians, far from narrow calculations, blackmail and attempts to undermine the state.
