Tunisia-President Kaïs Saïed visits Aïn Skhouna and Bir Soltane

President Kaïs Saïed paid a visit on, Monday, to the localities of Ain Skhouna and Bir Soltane in the governorate of Kebili.

This visit arises against the backdrop of lethal encounters between residents from Douz (Kebili governorate) and Beni Khedach (Medenine governorate). One person was killed and dozens wounded in the fights, which broke out following a disagreement over a plot of land positioned between the two regions, a statement by the Presidency of the Republic reads.

On this occasion, president Saïed, Commander-in-chief of the armed forces, met with representatives of the regional and local authorities, requesting for “giving priority to the sound of reason and barring the road to discord and dissension between the inhabitants of the same region”.

“The President of the Republic is the symbol of the state and the guarantor of its unity,” he commanded, warning against “attempts to implode the state from within.

Besides, he welcomed the efforts made by the security forces and the army to restore stability throughout the region.

During this visit, the head of state was accompanied by the chief of staff of the army and the Director-General Commander the National Guard.
