Tunisia-President Kais Saied:the President of the Republic is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Force

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, chaired this Sunday, April 18, 2021, the ceremony to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the birth of the internal security forces in the presence of prime minister Hichem Mechichi and house speaker Rached Ghanouchi.

During this ceremony, the head of the state asserted that according to the Constitution, the President of the Republic is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Force, adding that he is responsible for appointments and removals of high-ranking military and diplomatic posts, linked to national security and this after consulting the prime minister.

“I wanted to clarify matters because I think that some Tunisians do not realize it. I do not desire to assign myself certain functions however we must respect the Constitution,” he said.
