Tunisia-Presidency of the republic unveils details on “suspicious” envelope case

The presidency of the republic received on Monday, January 25, 2021, a private mail directed to the head of the state, which consists of an envelope that does not carry the name of the sender. Head of the presidential cabinet opened it but soonly, her health deteriorated, she felt weak and almost completely lost her sense of vision, as well as a severe headache. It should also be remarked that one of the employees in the office presidency was there when the accident transpired and felt the same symptoms but to a lesser degree, reads a statement by the present of the republic.
The envelope was placed in a paper shredder before it was decided to deliver it to services of the Ministry of the Interior. It was not possible till this hour to discover the nature of the substance that was inside the envelope.
On the other hand, the Head of the presidential cabinet went to the Military hospital to discover the causes of the sudden disturbances in her health. Meanwhile, The services of the Presidency of the Republic did not publish the news on the same day in order to avoid provoking public opinion and confusing, but this news was, on the other hand, circulated on social media, so explanations must be made, adds the source

The same source affirmed that the head of the state is doing well and haven’t been harmed, it also extends its gratitude to the qualified security services, particularly the General Administration for the Security of the Head of State and the official personalities for their readiness and speed in conducting out the required tests as well as medical services of the General Administration of Military Health for their quick intervention.

In conclusion, The Presidency of the Republic asserts its keenness to guarantee the freedoms consecrated in the constitution, including freedom of opinion, thought, expression, media and publication, and maintains its absolute backing for the free word expressing a free opinion, and is stunned, in return, to pursue those who transmitted the news of this poisoning attempt, rather than looking for those who carried out this miserable attempt.
