Tunisia-President Saied meets Interior Minister

President Kais Saied welcomed Interior Minister Taoufik Charfeddine on Wednesday at Carthage Palace.

The meeting concentrated on the security situation in the country and the necessity to secure citizens’ security.

The police union right is secured by the Constitution, adding that security forces do not have the right to strike; he said.

The President added that the failure to ensure an event, under any pretext, is a “disguised strike and a violation of professional duty.”

He repeated his call to unify all police unions, under a single union structure, called «the Tunisian General Union of Internal Security Forces,» which deals only with the social concerns of its members.

The President also applauded the efforts of security forces to preserve security, protect property and guarantee freedom of expression.
