Tunisia-President Saied speaks by phone with Libya’s El-Sarraj

President Kais Siaed had a phone conversation with the Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya and prime minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya Fayez al-Sarraj during which he reiterated Tunisia solid position regarding the Libyan file.

He stressed Tunisia commitment to international legitimacy, clarifying that any statements that contradict this position are either inconsistent,  misunderstood or were promoted with the aim of suggesting a shift in Tunisia position.

The head of the state affirmed that the solution must reflect the will of the Libyan people, as it is the sovereign and the one that decides its faith faraway from foreign intervention.

 

The president of the republic further stressed that Tunisia and Libya are one nation united by one future that is similar to a solid structure.

On his part, El-Sarraj expressed the depth of the Tunisian-Libyan relationship, asserting its strength. He affirmed that existing institutions stationed on the Libyan borders belong to GNA and they stay up to ensure the safety of Tunisians.

In the same context, he pointed out that Libya will place all its resources for the benefit of Tunisia due to the current coronavirus pandemic that has spread throughout the globe.
