Tunisia-President Saïed: We are at war and there is no difference between civilians and soldiers

After an urgent meeting held yesterday at Carthage presidential Palace, President of the republic Kais Saied called for critical examination of the latest decisions that have been adopted in recent months. Revealing his dissatisfaction with the mismanagement of the health crisis, Mr Saied pointed to the decline of the health situation in many regions while calling for a review of the restrictive measures announced recently.

The Head of State consequently revealed that the latest measures have not led to tangible results, calling to take brave decisions to save the lives of Tunisians. Kais Saied similarly hailed the efforts made by health professionals and components of civil society in the battle against the pandemic, indicating that some parties have attempted to take advantage of the health crisis for purely political aims.

Kaïs Saïed emphasised that the nation is at war and that “there is no difference between civilian and military health. There is no necessity to divide between soldiers and civilians “while expressing gratitude to the military medical personnel and more especially the director of military health Mustapha Ferjani. He likewise praised the work fulfilled by the civil health personnel while expressing his thanks to the president of the Institut Pasteur Hechmi Louzir.
