Tunisia-President Saied:Today, we have moved from a single party to the single lobby

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, received  Mr Lotfi Zitoun at Carthage presidential palace.

The meeting was a chance to review the overall situation in the country and to raise some political, social and legal issues. It was additionally an opportunity to dismiss certain ambiguities, including the fact that the head of state does not disseminate patriotism checks and does not take them away from anyone.

The head of the state said that organizing a national dialogue first needs the participation of youth representatives from all regions.

Addressing Lotfi Zitoun, the Head of State stated: “Previously, the problem rested in the absence of political plurality and not in the constitution … Today, we have moved from a single party to the single lobby, where a group of people are pulling the strings in the shadows. The revolutionary explosion existed in order to set an end to the actions which were in place and so that the people could eventually take power ”.
“The 2014 Constitution has shown, through experience, that it is not suited to the current context. Today there are locks on every article of the Constitution “, added the president.
The President of the Republic also dismissed having questioned the patriotism of some, simply asserting that he “advocates a national dialogue but in a form distinct from what has already been done, based on a new vision”.
