Ramzi Jebabli, the campaign manager of candidate Ayechi Zammel, told TAP today, Monday, that the prosecutor’s office at the Manouba Court of First Instance had authorized the arrest of Ayachi Zammel for 48 hours. .
Presidential candidate Ayachi Zamal was apprehended today, Monday, and taken from his home to the National Guard district in Tebourba (Manouba), suspected of having “falsified recommendations,” according to what lawyer Fawzi Djaballah reported.
The same source clarified that the plaintiffs and the candidate’s brother were heard at a preliminary stage before he was apprehended today. In turn, Ramzi Jbabli, official spokesperson for candidate Zammel’s campaign, stated that this search concerns a new case that is still at the level of the National Guard region, explaining that it has nothing to do with previous cases.
For her part, the official spokesperson for the Manouba Court of First Instance, Sondos Al-Nouioui, revealed that the judicial inquiry authorized by the prosecution on August 16 came after 11 citizens from the Tebourba delegation filed complaints directly with the said division, in which they noted that “their data had been used to prepare recommendations for one of the candidates in the presidential elections without their approval or will.”
It should be cited that the Tunis 2 Court of First Instance had previously decided to postpone until September 19 the examination of a case against Zammel and the treasurer of his party (Azimoun), related to suspicions of falsifying recommendations. It also decided to release Siwar Al-Bargawi, a member of the “Azimoun” movement, arrested in connection with this case, while Zammel remained at large. The judiciary took precautionary measures against Al-Bargawi by subjecting her to administrative control and preventing her from leaving the territorial district of the court’s jurisdiction.
