Speaking to the TAP,he president of the Consumer Orientation Organization, Lotfi Riahi, confirmed that the average cost of Eid clothing rose this year between 10 and 15 percent, compared to last year.
The average cost of Eid clothing for those under six years old is assessed at 250 dinars, and this cost slowly increases with age, up to 18 years, reaching around 450 dinars.
Riahi considered this cost extremely high compared to the average family income. He attributed the increase in prices of Eid clothing to clothing brands, which work under a policy of operating under the original label, as “most of the poor quality products are supplied at cheap prices and sold at inflated prices.
He emphasised that it is time to cap profit margins, restrict the rise in retail prices, on the one hand, and encourage and protect Tunisian products, on the other hand, and limit intensive supply. ready-to-wear and restore shine to Tunisian industrial products.
