Tunisia-Rached Ghannouchi meets with IPU President Gabriela Cuevas Barrón in Ouagadougou

Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HRP) and leader of Ennahda party Rached Ghannouchi met President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Gabriela Cuevas Barrón in Ouagadougou.

The official meeting was attended by a Tunisian parliamentary committee taking part in the 15th session of the conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) currently held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The meeting centred on the possibilities for improving the performance of the IPU and arrangements for its succeeding session in Geneva, Switzerland in April 2020. On that occurrence, the IPU President asked Ghannouchi to the event.
She also emphasised the significance of encouraging collaboration between the IPU and the HPR, especially in the field of anti-corruption legislation and other features of mutual interest.
For his part, Ghannouchi emphasised the performance of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in supporting diplomacy and parliamentary exchange and corresponding views on regional and international issues.
