Tunisia-Rached Ghannouchi: “My meeting with the president opened the door to consensus”

House speaker Rached Ghannouchi announced his meeting with the President of the Republic Kais Saied this week broke the ice and opened the door to consensus.

Ghannouchi told  “Al Hadhath Attounsi” that the meeting demonstrated to Tunisians that they are not doomed to eternal dispute.

He revealed that he was going to have a media interview last Wednesday to address the errors that the Head of State made, in particular the hindrance of the cabinet reshuffle and the law on the Constitutional Court, but that the interview was cancelled after receiving an invitation to meet him.

Ennahdha leader further confirmed that the meeting was positive and paved the way for consensus, as has happened in the past with the late President Beji Caid Essebsi.
