Tunisia-Rached Ghannouchi speaks with Ismaïl Haniyeh and Khaled Mechaal

House speaker Rached Ghannouchi, spoke on Thursday by telephone with Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas and the head of the political bureau of the movement for abroad, Khaled Mechaal,
Welcoming the resistance of the Palestinians in the face of the recent Israeli attack, Ghannouchi affirmed to his speaker that the Tunisian Parliament was still connected to its historic engagement to the Palestinian cause and accordingly played a fundamental role in its support to the Palestinian cause near the international community.

The Speaker reiterated his denunciation of the attacks carried out by the occupation forces targeting civilians and children in Gaza, remarking that Tunisia had demanded international protection and any kind of support possible for the Palestinian people during the works of Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Calling the bombing of the Gaza Strip war crimes, Rached Ghannouchi emphasised the necessity to end hostilities and the importance of closing Arab ranks.

Ismail Haniyeh gave Rached Ghannouchi a detailed evaluation of the situation in Gaza noting the gravity of the continuing blockade.

He furthermore expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by Tunisia to defend the Palestinian cause.

Khaled Mechaal, for his part, spoke of the significance of joining efforts between the different Palestinian factions to push back the occupying forces and the Arab people’s duty of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
