Properly carried on 12,500 local students in 188 schools, the social study also revealed that 77% of students are drug abusers and belong to the 16-18 age group. A percentage of 78% of consumers are boys while 90% of the total number of consumers come from an average or well-off social background.
Moreover, about 45% of consumers are typically exhibited to verbal and physical violence, while 86.3% of them have skipped school more than once while 77.6% have not engaged in any cultural or sporting activities during their free time.
“The Ministry is working to confront the problems that endanger students to the danger of engaging in risky behaviour in the direct vicinity of the school, through the development of cultural, sporting and social activities during off-peak hours,” said Bouzid Nssiri, Director General of Studies, Planning and Information Systems at the Department of Education, during a press briefing held on Friday at the Ministry of Education‘s headquarters.
