The lack of meat in Tunisia is prompted by high prices, monopolization and trafficking, said Ahmed Amiri, president of the National Chamber of Butchers.
He pointed out that meat prices are expected to reach 40 DT / kg if the Minister of Agriculture doesn’t interfere by resorting to exportation
to adjust the market.
In a declaration to Mosaïque FM, he affirmed that several suppliers are slaughtering calves outside meat companies and then they sell them to major supermarket chains and hotels.
