Tunisia – Refusal to release Mohamed Ali Aroui

The criminal chamber of the court of first instance of Tunis decided, today, Monday, to decline to release the former official spokesperson of the Ministry of the Interior, Mohamed Ali Aroui, and to delay his trial until April 15, as well as a sacked security officer and three other accused.

Remark that the indictment chamber of the Court of Appeal of Tunis had decided to refer Mohamed Ali Aroui and a dismissed security agent imprisoned with him, to the attention of the criminal chamber of the Court of First Instance of Tunis, for be tried there, along with three other defendants at large, for money laundering by exploiting the facilities given by the characteristics of social and professional activity and usurpation of other people’s money through threats.
