Tunisia-Refusal to release Noureddine Bhiri

On Monday, November 27, 2023, Habib Torkhani, the spokesperson for the Tunis Court of Appeal, officially confirmed in a media statement that Noureddine Bhiri had been presented before the criminal chamber of the Court of First Instance of Tunis. The charges against Bhiri included an attack with the intent to alter the form of government, incitement for individuals to arm themselves against each other or to induce disorder, as well as accusations related to murder or pillaging on Tunisian territory.

Torkhani further elaborated that Noureddine Bhiri’s plea for release was denied by the court.
