The columnist Riadh Jrad, through a post published on his Facebook page, reaffirmed Tunisia’s official and popular stance, which is firmly in favour of Palestinian rights.
On this occasion, he refuted the allegations spread by certain social media sites, which he described as “known for constantly spreading misinformation,” concerning a supposed refusal by Tunisia to host former Palestinian prisoners on its soil.
He explained that these claims were entirely false and stressed that, in any case, the Palestinians in question categorically refuse to be exiled from their homeland.
Jrad reiterated that Tunisia strongly opposes the forced exile of Palestinians and firmly supports their legitimate right to remain in their land.
He accused those spreading this misinformation of attempting to tarnish Tunisia’s image and cast doubt on its unwavering position in support of Palestinian rights.
Here is a reproduction of Jrad’s post:
“Certain online news platforms are once again attempting to mislead public opinion by falsely claiming that Tunisia has refused to host and shelter several Palestinian prisoners. The reality is that the prisoners themselves refuse to be expelled from their homeland.
This is a blatant and desperate attempt to cast doubt on Tunisia’s official and popular position, which remains steadfast in supporting Palestinian rights.
Tunisia rejects the displacement of Palestinians from their land and demands the realization of Palestinian people’s rights, including the right of refugees to return to their homes.
We have said it loud and clear: ‘All of Palestine and its capital, Holy Jerusalem.’ Your attempts to sow doubt are in vain.”
