Tunisia-Renewal of the TGM fleet

A new financing agreement in the amount of 45 million euros (the equivalent of about 146 million dinars), for the renewal of the fleet of the TGM rail line (Tunis-la Goulette-la Marsa), was approved this Monday, December 20, 2021, by the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Ricardo Mourinho Félix and the CEO of the Société des transports de Tunis (TRANSTU), Moez Ben Salem.
This financing will permit TRANSTU to obtain 18 new trainsets and equipment for the TGM rail line, the EIB stated on Monday in a press release. “As a European Bank which safeguards the climate, we are pleased to support Tunisia in its energy transition and accordingly to invest in projects which promote sustainable urban mobility”, declared, on this occasion, the Vice-President. of the EIB.
The EIB will furthermore continue to prioritize the financing of social infrastructure, in order to assist in improving the quality of life of Tunisians, he added. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Ministers of Economy and Planning, Samir Saied and Transport, Rabiï Majidi.
